Art can provide a very individual and expressive way of responding to the world, reflecting society, culture and personality. We aim for children to find joy in creating their own works based on a wide variety of stimuli.
Our art curriculum is designed to systematically build skills children need to create their own pieces of art in a variety of media. This is closely linked to learning about the work of famous artists and their signature works. We have tried wherever possible to focus on artists whose works can be seen for free in the UK. Children learn about the process of creating a finished artwork, from original thoughts, concepts and sketches, up to a completed piece.
