In our PE curriculum we aim to expose children to sports that they would not necessarily take part in outside of school. We believe this broadens opportunities and allows all children to take part equally. We have the support of Challenge Sport, who provide ongoing high quality teaching and professional development for staff. Their schemes of work underpin our curriculum. Cranbourne has an excellent reputation for sport, and our competitive successes are many.
Due to current restrictions, lessons this year have had to be adapted in order to keep all the children and adults safe. Nonetheless, it has been amazing to still see a huge range of unusual sporting activities taking place.
Every class has PE timetabled twice across the week, the curriculum map below will show you what is being taught. Obviously, due to the changeable weather and COVID guidelines, these activities may be subject to change, so please ensure your child has the correct PE kit in school at all times, including tracksuit trousers.
The daily run has been an amazing success for us over the last few years and has underpinned some of our sporting successes. All year groups participate, from reception right through to year six. This helps us to continue your good work as parents to build a basic level of fitness and body awareness for all children across all years in the school. Post lockdowns we have altered this to rebuild lost stamina.
