PE

Back

At Cranbourne (often referred to as "The Sporty School"!) we recognise the wide variety of benefits that PE and sport, and generally being active, can bring. Children don't just become fitter and more skilfull, they also develop the important skills of teamwork, cooperation and sportsmanship.

In our PE curriculum we aim to expose children to sports that they would not necessarily take part in outside of school. We believe this broadens opportunities and allows all children to take part equally. We have the support of Challenge Sport, who provide ongoing high quality teaching and professional development for staff. The GetSetfor4PE schemes of work underpin our curriculum. Cranbourne has an excellent reputation for sport, and we experience competitive successes every year.

The daily run has been an amazing success for us over the last few years and has underpinned some of our sporting successes. All year groups participate, from year one right through to year six. This helps us to continue your good work as parents to build a basic level of fitness and body awareness for all children across all years in the school.

We provide many opportunities for competitive sport, whether that's the in-house year 5 "Strictly Come Cranbourne" salsa competition, our traditional sports days, or lesson based matches. We take part in numerous inter-school competitions across the year.

Our very popular after school clubs extend the range of sports available, and our lunchtime fit clubs allow for an extra push on actvity.

All children are taught the full curriculum, with adaptations made where required for SEND children. These include, but are not limited to, scaffolding of tasks and focussing on particular key skills.

Below you'll find a link to lots of activities you can try at home and out and about with your children.

As GetSet4PE is a commercial scheme we can't reproduce it here, but our curriculum map shows you what each year group will be learning throughout the year.
